The Six Principles of Success for Students

            Note: This speech was originally delivered by me 2 years ago. I am sharing it here in the hope that the ideas and principles discussed in it may benefit students and readers.

My dear friends! 

         I want to share six powerful principles that can change the life of every student. These are the rules that turn ordinary people into successful ones. Let me begin with the first one “ Goal Setting.”

             Friends!  Setting a goal is the first step towards success. It is very important to help you stay on the right track and save you from destruction. It encourages you to work hard focusing on your own works. It ensures that you are on the way to achieving your goals and ambitions. A man who doesn't have any great aim in his life is just like an animal. He is like a dead person, and he can 't do anything big in his life. But the person who has any big aim in his life is a living person, and this is the real person in this world . Because he knows what he is doing and what he has to do in the future.

So first of all we must decide what we want to do in our fourth coming days. We must create a particular goal in our life.

        The second point is " Hard work" : After fixing the goal, every student must work hard. Because hard work teaches us discipline, dedication and determination. When we work hard in our life we can achieve anything and overcome any obstacle.

        Third point is " Continuity/Consistency " Along with hard work continuity is very important. Less struggle with continuity is better than long and hard struggle without continuity. And prophet Muhammad ( S.W ) also said: أحبّ الأعمال إلى الله تعالىٰ أدومها وإن قلّ. The most beloved deeds to Allah are those that are done consistently even if they are few.

        My friends! Success demands from us a long time, patience, great endurance and power of tolerance. Because there is no shortcut to success. You must have heard the name of great scientist " Thomas Alva Edison ". He is the inventor of electricity bulb. Do you know? He failed 999 times in the way of inventing it , but he never gave up, tried again and again, finally he got success in 1000 times , and firstly brightened the world by his invention. At that time he became a vivid instance for the world. 

    So set your goals, run towards it, continue to work hard, never lose your hearts, never give up, never stop until you attend your destination. 

        Fourth point is "Art of ignoring": Remember, this world is so cruel, it will never forgive you, it will never let you do what you want, it will blame you , taunt you, so if you are on the right path, don't care about what people are saying behind you.

        Fifth point is "Time Management": You must have heard of the phrase "Time flies" It means that time passes very quickly and it waits for none. Time is most valuable thing in the life. It has no beginning no end, It can neither be created nor be finished, It plays an important and huge role in human life.

        Time is irreversible, Once a moment passed, it will never return back, One who takes advantage of time gets success in this world, and one who doesn't value time, is left behind in the field of life. Time is a great wealth, Only those who takes advantages of time, earn name and fame in this world. Time is very precious wealth. It is more valuable than money, Because we can earn back the lost money. But we can't get back the lost time.

In long, short we can say that time is the greatest gift of God. Moreover there is a saying "If you waste time, Time will waste you". Only this line is enough to justify how important and valuable time is.

        So we should utilize time wisely, shouldn't waste it. And we must remember every moment the quote of " Harvey Mackay", He said «time is free, but is priceless, you can't own it, but you can use it, you can't keep it, but you can spend it, once you have lost it, you can never get it».

        Sixth, last and most important point is: “Respecting teachers" :

        The relationship between a teacher and a student is very sacred. Where parents play a role in the physical development of a child the teacher also plays a vital role in the mental and skill development. It is written in Tafseer -e-Kabeer " A teacher is more merciful to his student than parents. Because parent only protect him from the fire and suffering of the world, while a teacher protects him from the fire of hell and suffering of the hereafter.

     My friends! Due to respect for the teacher a student becomes successful, otherwise he fails on each and every turn of life. And there is a famous Arabic saying:

"ما وصل من وصل إلا بالحرمة، وما سقط من سقط إلا بترك الحرمة"

It means that: If one who got what he got because of politeness and respect, and lost what he lost because of disrespect and dishonor. Therefore we must respect our teachers and pray for them. That is our moral duty.

Don't Waste Your Student Life.

Note:

        This speech is not a recent piece of writing. I delivered it in front of my friends in 2024 at an English coaching center while I was learning English. I am still a student and continue to improve my English skills. I am sharing this speech as part of my learning journey and to preserve the memory of one of my early public speaking experiences.

    My dear friends! The most beautiful stage of a person's life is “STUDENT LIFE”. This is the stage when one lives one's life without caring about the cruel world. A child’s mind is like a lump of clay which is moulded into the best shape during student life. Student life can be very wearing, but it lays the foundation stone for the whole life. Thus, if your foundation is strong, the building will be strong too. However, a weak foundation cannot make a building stand.

    But it is the matter of great grief and pain that most students are hollowing out their own foundation. They don 't understand the value of student life, waste their valuable time on mobile phones by scrolling through reels and watching short videos.

    No doubt , The mobile phone has played a major role in converting this world into a global village. If any student uses it positively to receive knowledge and education, their future can be bright. But there are only a few students who operate it positively to take advantage of it and to acquire knowledge.
There are a large number of students who waste their precious time in unnecessary and futile things .The time of a student that should be spent on studies, is being wasted in surfing the internet.

        My friends! As a student I believe that as a labour spends most of his time in labouring, an employee in employment, a farmer in farming and a businessman in his business, in the same way, a student should utilize most of his time in acquiring knowledge.

    My brothers ! If your parents have given you a cell phone it doesn't mean that you are allowed to waste your time in it from dawn to dusk.

        Remember! A mobile phone can be such a toxin that ruins the whole future of a student . It is the greatest reason of separation from books, libraries, teachers and friends. Moreover it causes several health problems.

     According to " British Psychological Society" it increases tension, depression, stress, anxiety and ophthalmological diseases in the person who uses it even one hour in a day .

    My brothers ! Remember, your future depends on your present, your present time will decide your future. Now you are not realising the importance of this golden life. But when your educational period passes and you are not a successful person, and you are not able to do something better for yourself and your family, At that time you will regret. But remember my friends! Your regret in the future wouldn't make any difference, and your past student life will never return
back.

    So I heartily request you to value this student period, to be attentive towards your destination, and to build a strong foundation to adorn your future.

        حينما بكىٰ القلم لفقد الأستاذ

لقد فُجعنا بفقد أستاذنا الجليل، العالم البارع، والمربي الفاضل، الذي ترك بصمة طيبة في قلوب تلامذته، وسيرةً عطرةً في ميدان العلم والعمل. و هو الأستاذ الدكتور نذير أحمد الندوي- رحمه الله رحمة واسعة - الذي انتقل إلى دار البقاء قبل أيام، مخلفًا وراءه إرثًا علميًا وذكريات لا تُنسى في دار العلوم التابعة لندوةالعلماء بمدينة لكناؤ ـ

كان فضيلة الأستاذ رمزًا من رموز العلم والتربية وعلمًا من أعلام دار العلوم ، وأحد أعمدتها الموقرة في كليةاللغةالعربية ـ

وُلِدَ رحمهُ الله في مدينةِ ”نورنك آباد“، بمديريةِ أتاوه، في ولايةِ أترابرادیش، في أُسرةٍ مثقّفة ثقافةً عَصريّةً ، نشأ بين أحضان العلم، ودرس في جامعة دار العلوم لندوة العلماء حيث تخرج منها عام ۱۹۸٦م، وبعزيمة واجتهاد أكمل تخصّصه في الحديث النبوي الشريف عام ١٩٨٨م،  فتولّٰى منصب التدريس في نفس الجامعة، وكرَّسَ جَميعَ حياتِهِ على خدمتها، وبذلَ أقصىٰ جُهودِهِ في رُقيِّها وازدهارِها، وفي تربيةِ الطلّابِ وتعليمِهم، و ظلّ يَخدِمُ العلمَ والأدبَ حتى قضىٰ نحوَ ستٍّ وثلاثينَ سنةً في ميدانِ العلمِ والتربية ـ

كان شديدَ العنايةِ باللغةِ العربيّةِ، يُحبُّها حبًّا عظيمًا، ويُشجِّعُ الطلّابَ على إتقانها والتكلُّمِ بها. وبفضلِ الله و بفضل حِرصِهِ وصبرِهِ خرَّجَ أجيالًا من الطلّابِ الذينَ يحملونَ مِشعلَ اللغةِ والأدبِ۔

كان الدكتور نذير أحمد النّدوي مثالًا للخلق الرفيع والتواضع، رجلاً نقيّ النفس، دمِث الأخلاق ، سهل المخالقة، يحب العزلة، إنّ الله أودع في عريقته الدّموثة واللّين ، و في قريحته التّوازن والانسجام۔

كان ذا معرفة واسعة في معظم الفنون ولا سيّما في الأدب العربي، متقناً اللغة العربية والأردية ، مُجيداً في الإنجليزية والهندية،ومُلمّاً باللغة السنسكريتية أيضاً. و ذلك كله جعله مدرسا مثاليًّا، لحمته و سداه تربية و تعليم و درس ، كأنه لم يُخلق إلّا له، و لا يصلح إلّا به ـ

لقد تشرفتُ هذا العام بدراسة ”ديوان الحماسة“ على يديه، والله كان أسلوبه في التدريس مميزاً ذا طابعٍ خاص يجمع بين سهولة الفهم و روعة التعبير، فإذا بدأ في الشرح شعرتُ كأنّ ينابيع العلم والأدب تتدفق من بين كلماته تدفقاً طبيعياً، كان يشرح كلَّ لفظ بفصّه و نصّه ، ويكشف ما فيه من دقائق نحوية وصرفية بلاغية ، وإذا مرّ في الأبيات بلفظة وردت في القرآن الكريم أو الحديث الشريف أو في بيتٍ من الشعر العربي، يسوقها مثالا ودليلا . وذلك لنفهم العبارة فهما صحيحا وندركها ادراكا كاملا  و كان يعلّمنا أيضاً كيفية إنشاء جملٍ جديدة بالتعبيرات الواردة في الكتاب، فيصوغ بنفسه أمثلة نافعة جيدة ، ويشرح الألفاظ الثقيلة والمفردات الصعبة بذكر كثير من المترادفات العربية والأردية مع ذكر ما يرادفها من ألفاظٍ إنجليزية وهندية لتسهيل الفهم وترسيخ المعنى في أذهان الطلبة و تمكينهم على الفهم التامّ. ثم يترجم الأبيات إلى اللغة الأردية الفصحىٰ ترجمةً بديعةً آسرةً للقلوب، بأسلوب سهلٍ واضحٍ، وعبارات جذابة خلابة تجذب قلوبنا وأنفُسَنا ـ

كان فضيلة الأستاذ مخلصًا جدًا لندوة العلماء وللطّلاب و جدّيا في أداء الواجبات ، ومن الأمثلة الحيّة على ذلك ما رأيناها بأم أعيننا أنه كان في أيامه الأخيرة مُدخَلاً في المستشفى بشدة المرض.حيثُ نصحَهُ الطّبيبُ بالراحةِ وتجنُّبِ الحركةِ الكثيرةِ، ولكن رغم ذلك كان يأتي إلى المدرسة كل يوم صباحًا، وذهب إلى الفصول متوكأ على أكتاف الطلاب. ويلقي الدروس، ثم بعد انتهاء الحصص يرجع إلى المستشفٰى وقداستمرت هذه السلسلة إلى أيام كثيرةـ

 وفي يوم وفاتهٖ أيضاً ألقى درسَهُ حتى الحصةِ الثالثةِ، ثم دخل غرفته ليستريح ، وعندما أرادَ أن يُواصلَ التدريسَ في الحصةِ القادمة، طلب من تلميذهِ الخاصِ أن يساعدَهُ على الذّهابِ إلى الفصول ، ولكن التلميذَ قال: ”يا سيدي ! صحتُكَ ليست على ما يُرام، أنت في حاجة إلى الراحة“، فأجابه الأستاذُ بجملةٍ تُبرِزُ إخلاصَهُ وشغَفَهُ وحبَّهُ لطلابهِ وتدريسهِ، قائلاً: ”لو لم أحضر الدرس ،وأنا في ندوة العلماء، لكان ذلك ظلماً عظيماً على 

الطلاب؛“. الله أكبر

             

    أُولَئِكَ آبَائِي فَجِئْنِي بِمِثْلِهِمْ

   إِذَاجَمَعَتْنَايَاجَرِيرالمَجَام

   حينما خرجتُ من الدرس متوجّهاً إلى الغرفة ظُهراً، وصلني نبأ وفاة أستاذنا الكريم. لكن كان الأمر مشتبها على الطلاب و كان الجو محشوّاً بالشك والتساؤل، فبعض الطلبة كانوا يؤكّدون الخبر،و بعضهم ينكرونه . وكنت أتمنّٰى بطيات قلبي وأغوار خاطري أن يّكون هٰذا الخبر كذباً ،و لكن الأخبار التي وصلتني بصورة مستمرة متواصلة جعلتني مضطرًا لقبول الحقيقة. وجرىٰ علىٰ لساني هذا الدعاء ” إنا لله و إنا اليه راجعون ـ

 أُدّيَتْ صَلَاةُ الجَنَازَة أولاً فِي دار العلوم التابعة لندوة العلماء ، ثُمَّ فِي وطنه ” أورنك آباد “ ، ثم تمّ تدفينه. و هُنَاكَ انتهت رِحْلَتُهُ فِي الدنيا، وبدأتْ حَيَاتُهُ الباقية في جوار ربّه ـ

نام فضيلة الأستاذ قرير العين ومرتاح البال،لكنَّهُ خلَّفَ وراءهُ ذِكرياتٍ لا تُنسى ، و حزنا لا يُوصَف ، كما ترك ميراثًا خالدًا من العلمِ والفكر ـ

خَلَّفتَ في الدُنيا بَياناً خالِداً

وَتَرَكتَ أَجيالاً مِنَ الأَبناءِ

وَغَداً سَيَذكُرُكَ الزَمانُ وَلَم يَزَل

لِلدَهرِ إِنصافٌ وَحُسنُ جَزاءِ

نسْأَل اللهَ أَنْ يجْزيه عنْ العلم وَالتربية أحسن الجزاءِ، وأن يجعل قبره روضة من رياض الجنة، وأن يرفع درجاته في عليين، وأن يمنح أهله وطلابه ومحبيه الصبر والسلوان، آمين

If you waste the time, time will waste you

        Have you heard of the phrase "Time flies"? It means that time passes very quickly and it waits for no one. Everybody understands time in their own way , but it is important to all .

Time is more precious than money 🤑 

        Time is the most valuable thing in life. It has neither beginning nor end, It can neither be created nor be destroyed. Yet it plays a vital role in our lives. It provides us opportunities for learning, personal development and growth, It allows us to acquire new skills and increase our knowledge. 

        Time is irreversible. Once a moment passes, it will never return back. One who takes advantage of time gets success in this world, and one who doesn't value time is left behind in the race of life. Time is a great wealth. Only those who take advantage of time, earn name and fame in this world .

        Time is very precious. It is more valuable than money, because we can earn back the lost money. But we can't get back the lost time .

    In brief, time is the greatest gift of God. Moreover a beautiful saying goes "If you waste time, Time will waste you" . Only this line is enough to justify how important and valuable time is.

So we should utilise the time wisely, spend it in the right way, and shouldn't waste it.  Father of the nation: Mahatma Gandhi 

Mahatama Gandhi 

   This world has seen numerous distinguished personalities who broke the chains passed down for centuries and changed the course of history through their significance, intelligence, and talent.

One of them is Mohandas Karam Chand Gandhi, well known as The father of the nation(Rashtra Pita). His father's name was Karamchand Gandhi, and his mother, Putlibai Karamchand Gandhi, was an orthodox woman who instilled in young Gandhi a deep love and loyalty toward religion and country.

Gandhi was born in 1869 in a small town named Porbandar situated in Gujarat.

His birthday, known as Gandhi Jayanti, is a national holiday in India and is celebrated in every nook and corner of the country as the Day of Non-Violence.

Gandhi started his primary education in Porbandar, Gujarat, where his father was a government employee. Later, his family moved to Rajkot, where he continued his studies at Alfred High School. After passing his high school examination, he joined Samaldas College in Bhavnagar. However, when he returned home after the first year, his eldest brother and family friends suggested that Mohandas go to England for higher studies and become a barrister.

On 4th September 1888, Gandhi traveled from India to England by ship .

When he landed at Southampton, he found everything strange. He saw different people wearing different clothes and living in a culture very different from Indian culture.

 He became a member of the Executive Committee of the London Vegetarian Society. Then, he got admission to the Inner Temple in London where he completed his law studies. While in London, he never forgot his principles and culture. Many times, on different occasions, his friends offered him wine and meat, but he simply refused, saying, “Thank you.” He was sure that the boys would make fun of him for refusing meat and wine, but he never cared about this.

The turning point in Gandhi's life:

Once, Gandhiji was travelling by train in South Africa. He was seated in the first-class compartment having purchased a first-class ticket. However a white man complained against him. The railway staff told Gandhiji to move to the third-class compartment. When Gandhiji refused, a White police officer pushed him out of the train, and his luggage was tossed on the platform. At that time,coolies and non- whites were not allowed in first class compartment.

This incident hurt Gandhiji deeply , but he didn't choose violence. Instead, he decided to fight against injustice with truth and non-violence. From this incident, the idea of Satyagraha was born — a peaceful way of fighting for rights.

    He spent about twenty years in South Africa fighting against oppression and discrimination.Then he returned to India.

First, he travelled across the country to observe how people lived and the problems they faced.

In Bihar, in the district of Champaran, indigo farming had been going on for almost two centuries. In the beginning the land was owned by the local farmers. But the White landlords grabbed their lands and compelled them to grow Indigo instead of food crops.

Gandhi was unaware of this until a farmer from Bihar, Raj Kumar Shukla, met him in Lucknow and told him what was happening in Champaran. He requested Gandhi to come and see for himself the miserable condition of poor farmers. At that time, Gandhi was attending the Congress meeting in Lucknow and didn’t have time to go immediately. But he promised to visit Champaran after his visit to Calcutta.

  He came to Champaran and visited many villages. He examined about 8000 cultivators and recorded their statements. Then he came to the conclusion that the ignorance of the cultivators was one of the main reasons British could easily oppress them. Therefore, Gandhi set up voluntary organizations and started improving the economic and educational conditions of the people.The British tried to stop him and even threatened him to leave.But Gandhi refused to leave Champaran.

He continued his movement peacefully. His method of non-violence and truth inspired the farmers to unite.

  Finally, the British government realized Gandhi's strength. They had to set up a committee themselves to investigate the matter. They invited Gandhi to join as a member of this committee, and he agreed.

Gandhi continued his struggle against the indigo system and the oppression of farmers.

 As a result, within a few months the Champaran Agrarian Bill was passed, the indigo system was abolished and the farmers were freed from forced cultivation.

   This incident, known as the Champaran Satyagraha of 1917, was Gandhi’s first successful Satyagraha in India. It gave him nationwide recognition and it became a turning point in India’s freedom struggle.

  Besides this, Gandhi led several major independence movements against British rule. These included the Ahmedabad Mill-Workers Satyagraha (1918), Kheda Satyagraha (1918), Non-Cooperation Movement (1920), Civil Disobedience (1930), the Salt Satyagraha (1930), and the Quit India Movement (1942).

   On January 30, 1948, he was assassinated by a Hindu nationalist, Nathuram Godse.

Although he left this world, his teachings and principles continue to inspire people around the world. One of his quotes that inspires me greatly is: “ Live as if you were to die tomorrow, Learn as if you were to live forever ”.

The Guiding Lights of My Life: My Favorite Teachers

  A teacher plays a vital role in every person’s life. A teacher is the one who opens the windows of our mind with knowledge and awareness and shows us the right path toward a bright future.

In my whole career, my most favorite teacher is Maulana Nafees Abdul Rab Nadvi, a distinguished teacher at Darul Uloom Farooqia, Kakori, Lucknow.

He is a scholar with mastery over several subjects, especially English and Arabic. His personality reflects sincerity, dedication, and determination.

He has helped me greatly in learning both Arabic and English, supporting me in developing my abilities to write, read, and understand.

When I first joined the madrasa Darul Uloom Farooqia, I knew nothing of English.But today, only because of him and his book, I am now able to lift my pen and write something or open my mouth and utter sentences.

Most often, he would say, “Quality is everything.”

Indeed, talent and competence are everything. He made us realize the importance of skill, capacity, and preparedness, especially in recent times.

He truly changed my way of thinking and gave my life a new direction. He didn’t just teach me from books but taught me the art of recognizing myself, chasing my dreams, and trusting in my own abilities. He helped me to awaken my hidden talents and capabilities. Whenever I faced disappointment and discouragement, he inspired hope in me. When I stumbled, he held my hand, and when I was confused, he guided me onto the right path. Whatever I am today is because of him.

By God! He never refused to give his time outside the classroom to check articles, teach, or help in any way. Whenever he advised the students collectively, I felt as though he were addressing me alone, expressing the inner thoughts of my heart and soul. His kind words and valuable advice I can never forget. I will always remain grateful and indebted to him for as long as I live.I pray that Allah grants him a long life and rewards him with the best of rewards.

Here, I would also like to mention another teacher, Maulana Yusuf Sahab Nadvi—a personality with a soft heart and a calm mind.

Indeed, God has endowed him with gentleness and kindness in his nature and with balance and harmony in his thoughts. These are the qualities that truly distinguish him from others. I swear by God, in the course of three years, I never saw him get angry with any student.It is my great pleasure that I had the opportunity to study Tafseer, Fiqh, and English under his guidance.

It is impossible to fully describe the favors and support of my teachers in words. They ignited in my heart a spark of faith and confidence that will continue to guide me throughout my life. Someone has rightly said that a good teacher is the one who enlightens lives, and by God’s grace, I found that bright lamp in my life.

Madrasas- Loyalty, Sacrifice and today's challenges 

All madrasas in every nook and corner of the world are valuable treasure for the Muslim community, and great blessings for all humanity.Only because of these madrasas Islamic culture, motto, principals and values have been preserved, and mosques and tombs remain in this world. Especially in this critical and crucial age,if some Muslims are fulfilling their obligations given by God and His prophet Muhammad(peace be upon him) such as offering salah, fasting, performing Hajj, giving zakat, and so on.If they are following Islamic rules in wedding, business transactions and living their lives, it is only because of these Islamic madrasas. 

These madrasas teach lessons of humanity, high morals, good character, unity, equality, brotherhood, peace, and tranquility. They also instill the spirit of serving mankind, helping the poor, orphans,needy people and widows.

Dear Readers! It was none other than ulama of these madrasas who gave all Indians the lesson of loyalty to the country India, They forced the treacherous British to leave this country, and always raised the flag of rebellion against oppression, persecution, discrimination and prejudice, And made us realize that this land was the land of Love and affection, loyalty is our sign and symbol, loving our country is a part of our faith , and facing every conspiracy against our country is our national duty.

Those were Islamic scholars who participated in the war of independence against the British and issued the fatwa that setting India free from the clutches of British rule is a religious duty.

Nearly 51,200 scholars sacrificed their lives in that struggle. They continued their struggle and sacrificed their lives. Then this country got freedom. And a democratic country was established in which all people discovered as a citizen the honorable freedom of abiding by the customs of their own tribe,and following their own religion. Even they were given full freedom of preaching and spreading their religions. But that freedom is becoming a dream day by day, and looming like a mirage in the desert.

It is being interfered in Muslim personal laws in this present scenario, even the volume of the adhan (call to prayer) is being questioned

What a pity! F.I.R.s are being registered against the people who offer salah, and they are being imprisoned behind the bars in false cases and being pushed to their limits. Muslims are being killed in the name of cow slaughter.Their buildings are being bulldozed.And their mosques, schools, and the places of worship are no longer safe.

It is a matter of great grief and pain that the madrasas which taught loyalty to the country are being called the hubs of terrorism and extremism. The madrasas through which our India got freedom are being called useless and worthless. All enemies of Islam are spending their whole potential and capability to eradicate the madrasas, And in such a situation the government is also playing a huge role. Nowadays every policy is being made to end the existence of madrasas .The continuing surveys of only Islamic madrasas by the UP government make it clear that Islamic madrasas are particularly targeted by sectarian and hostile elements of the society.

In such a time, every Muslim must remain alert and aware. We must support, protect, and assist our madrasas in every possible way.
